Dr. Sumaya Lakis

Born in the historic city of Damascus, Syria, Dr. Sumaya Lakis began her medical journey at Damascus University, graduating with a degree in Medicine in 2018. Her dedication to advancing healthcare took her to Cincinnati, Ohio, where she completed her residency and later earned a Master’s in Health Informatics from the University of Cincinnati.

Today, Dr. Lakis serves as a Data Center Coordinator and Project Manager at the Innovative Healthcare Institute (IHCI), where she skillfully integrates cutting-edge technology with compassionate care—reshaping the way healthcare is delivered and accessed.

In addition to her professional excellence, Sumaya is a proud mother of three, finding balance in family life, reading, designing educational programs, community volunteering, and nature walks with her children. Her passion for innovation is matched by her strong commitment to service.

With SAMS, Dr. Sumaya has been an active force in digital health initiatives, supporting strategic planning for sustainable healthcare solutions in Syria. From her early days with SAMS during medical school to her current role on the Health Informatics Committee, she has consistently contributed her expertise to drive meaningful impact.

Most recently, Dr. Lakis has been instrumental in preparing for the upcoming SAMS Conference in Damascus, supporting the development of the hotel registration platform—a crucial step in ensuring a smooth and successful event experience for all attendees.
